What makes the value of a pearl?
The luster of the pearl should be the expert "chandeliers" and is a combination of the shimmering surface and the inner glow of the pearl dar. In any event the chandeliers are shiny and bright. On the surface, one should recognize their own mirror image. A dull or chalky white surface is always a sign of low quality.
The pearl's surface should be flat as possible. Indentations, scratches or stains even reduce the value. The smoother and smoother the surface, the more valuable the pearl.
Despite all the efforts of plant breeders produced nature rarely a perfectly round pearl. These rare pieces are also expensive. In principle, the rounder the pearl, the more valuable it is. So-called "baroque pearls are irregularly shaped pearls, which may well have a wonderful luster and look very appealing. They are usually but less than round pearls.
An important criterion for determining price is the size of the pearl. It is measured in mm and the diameter determined. From less than one millimeter to twenty millimeters extends the range is said that more than proportionally with the size of the growing scarcity.
Personal taste is the color of a pearl. Only a deep, dark gray or black pearls are very rare and therefore expensive. From light pink to silver white and cream to rich shades of gold, the spectrum. Also, soft blue or green tones occur.
